well,
me and few buds are heading down to macon next weekend for bond swamp nwr hunting. the problem i am going to guess that it is covered in water and probably will be for at least a week. does anyone know or recommend any areas close to macon for bow hunting. oaky woods, ocmulgee, etc. i am in athens and i aint too familiar with public land near macon, any info would be very nice.

Ocmulgee WMA is only about 10-15 miles down the same road as Bond Swamp. Oaky Woods is a little further than Ocmulgee from Bond Swamp.

As mentioned earlier, Ocmulgee WMA is down the same highway as Bond Swamp. Oaky Woods is on the west side of the river in Houston County. North of Macon, off Hwy 87, is Rum Creek WMA and the Berry Creek Archery Only area. Of course the Oconee National Forest is in Jones, Jasper, and Putnam counties. This points to how important Ocmulgee and Oaky Woods are to middle GA. There is not a lot of public hunting opportunity south of Macon. :flag:
