of aiming big and missing big when it comes to shooting toms, at least this year I have been.

I had some unbelievable opportunities last week and just flat out missed.:banginghe Post-shot analysis revealed I did not pick a spot on on two shots that missed, and although I did pick a spot on another I didn't stay focused on the spot through the shot.

I really practiced hard this year shooting several times a week since the end of deer archery season and just about daily several weeks prior to turkey season. I was very confident out to 18-20 yards, perhaps too confident. None of my shots were closer than 18 yards but they should have been kills, no doubt about that. Man, it sure is frustrating after working so hard to get these kind of opportunities then just blow them away. Heck, I had the same problem during this past deer season. I thinks I may have developed live target panic, you know, buck fever, doe fever, tom fever.:bounce: :o

Any of these toms would have been dead as hammers with a 410 shotgun but I wanted so bad to get another one with my bow. I think I will carry the ol 12 gauge my last few hunts of this year because I definitely want some breasts for the grill.

Al,
I called in seven jakes to within 10 yards on my club Monday morning. Trying to talk myself into carrying my bow for the rest of the season and try to get one of those jakes. If I could get one of those jakes with my bow, I would be very satisfied with my season. I got my bow out and shot a little this morning. I'd probably go down there the first morning and have one with a paintbrush standing out there at 40 yards.

WOW! Al, you never mentioned her to me!

He's a "silver tongued devil". You should have seen him, he told that young thing he was a stuntman/body double for Patrick Swayze in Road House and that Sam Elliot messed up a scene with a pool cue and that's how he got his eye patch. Then he layed it on about how he did the stunts for Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean. She was all over him.
Wish I'd have thought the story up first :banginghe

The only way to kill a turkey with your bow is to hunt with it.I`ve had six in shot gun range this year and don`t feel whipped a bit. I killed the one with the recurve and thats what I hunt with because I love it. Nothing against whacking one with the gun and I`m not sure easy is the word but it`s not bowhunting.Kinda like a gun hunting fella at work told me he killed two big eight pts with his rifle. I told him I saw 7 under fifty yards this year on public land. Who had the most fun?
