I need to replace my gas trimmer. I had a Ryobi and the power head died.. I have a bunch of quick connect heads and would like to get a new one that will also make use of the quick connects I have. I see that Cub-Cadet and Troy-Built both have 4 cycle units and Ryobi has a 2 cycle unit.
Does anyone know if Cub Cadet or Troy-Built are better than Ryobi and if so which is the better overall?
Thanks

I have had a Stihl weed eater for 10 years or so and have never changed the plug, cleaned the filter,or done anything but put gas in it and line on it .It cranks on 3-4 pulls every time.I may just be lucky but my next one will be a sthil.

I have a 4 cycle unit from Ryobi that is about 5 years old and still runs like new.

Does anyone local to Snellville carry a 4 cycle ryobi? Home Depot was the only place I found Ryobi and they were all 2 cycle.

There was a brief period that HD didn't carry Ryobi, when they cycled over to all JD stuff. I bought mine at Lowes back then, but I don't think they carry Ryobi anymore since HD picked them back up. I could be wrong though, just ask my wife, she tells me every time I am...

I bought a 2 cycle CC at Tractor Supply. It's been a good one. I tried a 4 cycle and it just seemed like it wouldn't turn the RPM's that the 2 cycle would.

I have a Honda 4 cycle. It's a hoss. Put the brush cutter blade on it and I'm a terror. It won't turn the RPM's but its got the torque if you need to be clearing some brush.
In 2 cycle the Stihl is hard to beat. Ten million Mexicans can't be wrong. Stihl has the quick disconnect system but I would be really surprised if it interchanges with Ryobi.
Just did a little search and found out that Ryobi was purchased by MTD which makes most of the private label lawn equipment.

I have a Robin 2 cycle with brush blade, chain saw, and tiller attachments. Spent 15 years with the cheapest weedeater made. The last 4 with this one have made my life immeasurably easier.

If you have a Sears Repair center near you, you can get the refurbished Poulan Pro's for about $50. I bought one from the one in Cobb County and it came with the treepruner attachment. Came with a 60day moneyback and 1 year parts and labor...

Hmm.. That sounds great.. I called them but they said that was only a special tent sale.. They do hold them every so often. So I will keep my eye open for one like that.
