527 with the single set trigger, .223 Monte Carlo type stock.

I have that gun and it is quite a shooter and that is putting it light.I don't think you can go wrong with a CZ myself. My only problem is the safety is very hard to release but that could also be a good thing,no small child would ever be able to take it off safety!

Where is the safety located Cal, and how does it work? I've never handled on, got a guy wanting to trade me it.

I would not own one

I have more than one. CZ's are fine firearms, I like them alot. I have all of these but #3 from the top, it got traded toward a DPMS AR. I bought a American .204 and a Varmint .223 in the HS Precision stock...and let a friend talk me out of both of them. I bought another Varmint like the one I sold. I have owned eight total, still have five, plus the Brno at the top of the photo.

Here is my Varmint and my son's American in the synthetic stock, only offered in 1993.

One of the most common complaints of the CZ #527 series is the tight bolt handle clearance with most scopes. This photo is my Lux .22 Hornet with a Weaver K2.5X scope mounted on it.

The safety is pulled to the rear to fire, just like cocking a hammer. This annoys loyal Remington shooters, who have trained their thumbs to push the safety forward to fire.

Prior to developing their own distributorship(CZ-USA) in K.C., CZ was in California (W. Covinia, I think a few years in the mid 90's ,) and prior to that was imported by Action Arms in Philadelphia, PA. The old AA imports are known to have ill-fitting stocks, which causes the action to bind and feeding problems. A little stock work at the rear of the action fixes this.

The last two digits of the year of production are stamped on the RH side of the receiver and barrel, down near the stock. The carbines in 7.62x39mm made after 02 tend to have better chambers. The #527 has a single set trigger, activated by pushing the trigger forward after the bolt has been cocked.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way the magazine sticks out of the #527, some shooters find fault with it. There are a few places around that will reshape the mag well and shorten the magazine for under $100.00.

Many companies make scope rings to fit the integral mount on this rifle and there is also a Weaver mount style rail available. I hope I have been of some help.

I copied/pasted new CZ #527 prices from Whitaker's. I would imagine a nice used rifle in VGC should bring $425.00 for a standard type model. I paid that three years ago for the American model I no longer own, but got a spare mag and rings in the deal. I swapped off a Weaver K10 two years ago for around $100.00. I think you are looking at $500.00 or so, depending on condition.

I believe Mr.cho35 has answered most all of your questions except one! That is the price,I agree with his value but i personally wouldn't take $1000.00 for mine.Just might not ever get one that shoots as good as it does.

I had a 223 that would shoot in the 2's &3's..traded it off because I never loved it. 1. hard to carry, the magazine is at the balance point. 2. the safety works backwards 3. mine was very rough feeding from the magazine.

I have 2. A carbine (7.62x39) and a 204 Ruger Varmint.

If you're going to carry it, that magazine is at the balance.

What I did was to use a "Safari Sling" No problem with that kind of carry and it's hands free.

I love my CZ 527 w/ the laminate hardwood stock. It is a 223 and I can't imagine a rifle that can shoot 55 gr molycoated hornady v max's better. I was astounded at the one hole groups. You can't even tell it's a group it's so tight. I thought I was missing on the second and third shots. This rifle and these loads are like magic. The single set trigger is the best trigger sytem there is on a rifle hands down. I used the CZ high rings on mine and the worked out great.
