Pickens County Report

Like everywhere else things have gotten off to a slow start. I've been in the woods since opening day and have yet to see a deer. There are tracks and sign everywhere but no deer. ::huh: We had a little cold snap after the hurricane went through and I figured this would get the deer out and about but nothing yet. My hunting buddy has seen a couple and even took a shot opening afternoon but a small limb deflected his shot before it connected. We have the same issue as everyone else....too much food. The ground is covered with crabapples, muscadines, and acorns. Our food plots are doing pretty good and are stomped full of tracks as well. They are real hard to pattern right now on our club. I don't know what to do except stay in the woods. We have found some good trails but all I can figure is that the deer are moving at night for some reason. Hopefully things will change pretty soon for the better. Good luck to everyone this year. :D
