I found this iron rock a couple of years ago and noticed this fossil impression. Can anyone give me a ballpark guess on how old it might be?

Looks like a scallop. Can you provide a scale / ruler next to it?

Where was it found?

It's 2" side to side, at the top, and 2 1/4" top to bottom....

It looks like a shellfish, like a scallop. Going to have to do some research on that one. Not sure on age:huh:

could be a part of a astroid, hit the ocean floor and a shellfish had a bad day. 10,000,000 years and three weeks, 2hours and 45 min.

No more than about 6,000 years old and that's a FACT. Great find though, good conversation piece.

It is true 6,000 years ago except that back than the earth took 51,329 years to go around the sun which equaled one year.
