Deer showings were slow....slow...slow.
Between me and Dawn2dusk (hunting morn and eve both days) we saw a grand total of 6 deer (and I saw all of those:p).
I did connect on a fine Heard County lady deer on Saturday eve. She left a GREAT blood trail for about 300 yards, but since it was dark it still took us an hour to find her. By the time we (Andy) had her quartered and had some dinner and some real, real cold showers it was midnight!
Food plots are looking absolutely amazing!

Does Andy do a good fast job on the quartering ;) .... :p

He was pretty quick about it, but he was complaining a lot though:D
Here is a link to how one of our plots looks.

My dad and I hunted in Heard Sunday afternoon. Saw no deer. This was the first time we had hunted in Heard this year. I was hunting a food plot that has been getting tore up. My dad was hunting white oaks. I think the moon phase has them noctunal.

I hunted in Heard Friday Eve and Saturday Morning. Saw nothing. Deer sightings have been few. I will give it another try Thursday Morning and Friday Morning.

Jim, were you hunting a plot or hardwoods when you harvested her?

I was on a plot...saw them there last weekend at about 3 minutes till dark. Well this week they came in with an hour to spare......
but they were in the pines and hardwoods for a long time before coming in the plot. I could see them for a couple of hundred yards just browsing along.

Good job on the doe. Glad to hear that you are seeing deer. Hope to get me one this weekend if the old back cooperates.

In Heard county this past weekend, I hunted 12 hours Saturday and saw one doe. I hunted 10 hours Sunday and saw a doe and a fawn. But I did get to watch a flock of turkeys feed around in a plot where they've never been seen in before. I even got to watch several of them lay down in the plot for while which is something I've never seen turkeys do.
All-in-all, a pretty good weekend.
