Anyone want a fall turkey season. I had three of the biggest birds I've ever seen come strutting up on Sat with 7 hens. All 3 in full strut at one time or another. If only they would've gobbled.

I saw a couple of long beards in the field with about eight hens Saturday.

I don't even hunt 'em in the spring, so I really can't comment on the fall season! ::huh: I have friends who tell me I need to get into chasing turkeys, but I stay busy in the spring with baseball! Maybe one of these days....

NO! If they don't gobble and come to a call, what is the sense in hunting them? Isn't that what turkey hunting is all about?

No fall season for me. We already enjoy the longest spring season in the country. There is just something about the dogwoods blooming and turkeys gobbling in the spring.

 I certaily don't want a fall season, but I've read about it in some publications. I love the feel of calling them in...I don't even need to kill one. We filmed all of our hunts last year and let the last two birds go. They'll be there this year to catch on film and with the #4's. :flag:

I've hunted turkeys in the fall; not much of a challenge and not NEARLY as fun as springtime. Those young birds do eat good though!

Likely, the majority of the ones that would be killed would be by deer hunters while hunting deer.

Personally, I would not want to risk getting all camoed up with deer hunters in the woods and me on the ground.

Like Randy says, it just wouldn't be turkey hunting. More like turkey bushwhacking. More is not always better.

I had 7 hens come within about 10 feet of my blind this weekend. One got separated from the others and we got to hear and see that one call out to the others and they responed and she took off running back to the group. I guess I would like a fall season, but whatever is best overall for the flock is fine with me. -JerryC

I vote NO as well, for some of the same reasons.

You guys are making it sound like the question was would like a fall season INSTEAD of a spring season. I don't think that's the question.
Though I'm in favor of anything that will get me in the woods more, my answer would be what Jerry C said.
I assume, that's what we have now. ::huh:

Who says they don't gobble and respond in the fall.......heard more gobblin and seen more struttin on some fall days than i have when the dogwoods are bloomin.......we usually have a peak in mid November around here...birds will be gobblin strong around the 13th........saw a hen with 5 poults 2 weeks ago and the poults were almost as big as a crow .....besides would love to knock down a few more with the muzzle loader......maybe we should have a fall muzzle loader (scoped) season... ::huh:
