DaddyPaul, my son Tate, and I went to MS a couple of weeks ago and had a great trip. This is a picture of the gobbler that Tate killed. He was a good bird with a 10" beard and 1" spurs. We called him, along with a buddy, up a woods road out of a bottom and Tate deflated him at about 20 yards. They were gobbling at everything Paul and I did and the hammer fell at 10:30.

Yeah, he thinks he has it all figured out. He took one of his buddies and his dad yesterday and this morning. He called a gobbler up to about 40 yards and he started getting a little spooky. Nobody shot and the turkey moved off. When he stood up and looked over at the dad, he hadn't put on his face mask!:banginghe Tate was a little upset, he has it bad!

That's hilarious man! If he's gonna be a guide, he'll probably have folks do dumber things than that at some point.

He definitely learned a little bit, but I think the fact that he had his 870 at the ready made him a little more than a guide.:bounce:

I got to see Tate in action on the bird in the pic. We thought they were moving off and I stood up on the little road that ran along the top of a ridge and asked gblrklr to call again. They hammered from about 50 yards over the hill and I dove behind Tate.

It was one of those set ups where as soon as his head crested the hill it was gonna be in your face. Every time the birds would gobble Tate would move his gun to track their movements.

We finally heard 'em drumming and seconds later the first of the heads popped over the hill. Tweren't long after that and Tate had done blistered him!

Oh yeah, there are no turkeys in Mississippi so don't waste your time there......................................
