Who is the best and who is not??? I currently have a Nextel and am sick of the poor coverage...the only reason I am still with them is because of the rugged phones...

I have had experience with 3 providers including the one you mentioned.

Verizon is by far the best for me to

Verizon probably has the best coverage, but the worst plans. I have t-mobile and the coverage is better than most and I like my plans.

Cingular/AT&T is supposed to be pretty good as well.

I have a sprint phone for work and the coverage is moderate at best.

From friends you have nextel, you'll be happy with anything you get. Nextel sucks. The click to talk is way over-rated.

I could get a big discount with Cingular but had to stay with Verizon because of the vastly better coverage. Get coverage in almost all parts of north east Ga. Also have the gzone phone which is pretty rugged (see Jim Thompson's post above for link).

I have to go with Cingular as well. Ive had Verizon for 2 of the 13 years I have had a cell phone and I had the most trouble with no signal and pathetic customer no service than you could imagine. From my home I had no service when I was with them. I had more dropped calls in the two years of service with them than in 11 years of service with Cingular/ ATT and what ever their name was before Cingular, I think it was Bell South then.

Verizon for me too. Great coverage here in middle GA plus on trips to Florida and NC and other parts of GA. Good service support(free upgrades to my phone, online bill paying, etc.).

Man Jim, that looks like one heck of a phone! (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=3665) I really love my Motorola W385 phone but I know it's going to get wet one day when it rains when I'm fishing.... Thanks for the link.

AT&T/Cingular...excellent service, coverage and billing!

I don't like Nextel.

I agree with Verizon, BUT, supposdly Nextel is coming out with a new phone this week or next that is supposed to be just like verizon.

Only reason I am saying this is b/c my wife works at nextel, and get this, she has a free nextel, but I pay for her to have a verizon every month.

I'm gonna wait a few weeks and if the Nextel phone roams on all the towers (for free) and does as good as good as they say it does, I'm gonna go back to Nextel, but for the time being, I'll be with verizon.

Verizon is by far the best around here....

Spend alot of time in the car in the southeast and I've had the best luck with Verizon by far.

I have been with AT&T/cingular since it was Bellsouth Mobility. I have always had excellent service. I have been to 4 different countries and was still able to phone home.

I am going to giver verizon a shot...They have a new phone coming out in a couple weeks(according to the sales rep at Verizon) that is pretty much a Motorola Razr that is rugged...I guess i'll hold out for it. Att had good service, but I need a phone that will endure the elements. the G z'One is a good phone, but doesn't have many features.

here's some info I found on the new Motorola

verizon and if you haven't heard they just bought alltel, so their coverage should be even better as soon as they officially combine.

That new Moto looks interesting too but no where have I seen it stated that it's going to water proof:

ill meet military specs 810F for shock, vibration, solar radiation, high temperature storage, altitude, high and low temperature operation and blowing dust.

I'm sure it is at least water resistant...My current nextel is water resistant, but it has been fully submerged several times and still works
