What do you have on the ground for them to dig a hole like that? Is that minerals, salt or what? I have never really messed with that but I want to. Any ideas or concocsions would be appreciated!

It's regular ol' rock salt. Just like you use when you make homemade icecream. I started with a hole about 12" wide and 4" deep. Then they took over from there. Now is the time for the salt to work. Don't wait till season comes and think it will start attracting deer. Start now and they will use it year round. I have another one that I will try and get some pics on here but it is about 10 years old and it started the same way and it is now knee deep and the size of the Hood on my 2500HD
