The Lord blessed me Tuesday morning and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I have jury duty this week (salt in the wound after the storm that we had...the judge had the nerve to call us "Heroes" for showing up....LIKE WE HAD A CHOICE!!!!! LOL) Anyway, while I'm waiting I notice this guy reading the JW book "Knowledge that leads to eternal life". When I got a chance I asked him how long he had been a witness, and he said that his girlfriend had just given him some of the books to read. His girlfriend and family are devote JW's.... We had a long conversation and I told him that he was lucky, that he still had the ability to read articles from ex-witnesses and go to sites on the web that deal with Witnesses who are wanting out. I informed him that once he became a baptised JW that he would no longer have the priviledge of researching the organization without repercussions from the 'suits'. I could tell that he was relating to what I was saying. He told me that he was at his girlfriend's house, along with her family, during the hurricane and that his girlfriends brother got VERY ANGRY when he started asking questions. I told him that "Jehovah appreciates his desire to get to know Him", but that he should read the bible, the Gospel of John perhaps, to get an idea of what God's plan is. I said that Jesus died on the cross for everyone....and said that we merely had to believe that He was God's son and rose again. I pray that he will ask for guidance....and avoid this 'cult'....no matter what he feels for his girlfriend.

The Lord placed you in his life at the right time. You did your job and gave him the truth. That in itself is a great testimony. I pray he does take heed and realise the truth before its too late.

It's obvious how people are 'born' into certain religions, but I can't understand how some people, especially as adults, consciously join some. ::huh:
Of course, people do a LOT of things that are unexplainable I guess...

sometimes we're in the right place at the right time. glad you took the initiative.

i had the same chance a few years ago with a girl who was friends with my girlfriend at the time. she was going to marry a mormon guy and wanted to convert. i had a long talk with her and she actually ended up not only staying a Christian but not marrying into his mormon beliefs. good for her.

I told this guy that, were his girlfriend ever to decide that she didn't want to be a JW anymore, she would be rejected and shunned by her family. that will make you keep your mouth shut about a lot of things! He said that his girlfriend had been out of active JW life, but was wanting to get back in. He also said that she was more open with him about answering questions that her family would be....so maybe his questions/comments to her will get her to thinking as well.

I gave him a few questions to ask her:

1. Has Jehovah always had 'true christians' throughout history, from the apostles all the way to Pastor Russell (Watchtower founder)? and if so, who were they? (If they could give a name then we could look up what these people believe/taught)

2. What would you think of a church/organization that refused to let it's members check out it's history, or listen to negative talk about its teachings?

3. The Watchtower claims to be God's only prophet for today. How has the 'prophet' taught so many wrong things? August 1968 Watchtower "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" (Just the title alone shows that they were saying something special about 1975 in 1968!)

I'd love to know how his conversations are going....

Bandy,
Thanks for the post and doing the will of our Lord. Your post helped remind me that no matter what "I" think about the situation I am in, God may very well have a Divine appointment scheduled for me in that place. You went and did your duty as a citizen and followed God's leading in being open to this guy.

Great witness, Bandersnatch...

Maybe he'll start thinking and another lost soul will come to Christ...

That's great Bandy, You realized that being on jury duty doesn't mean you are off duty on being a christian. So many times in a setting like this, we are not a very good example.
