A friend of ours is a photographer. She took a picture of our dixie girl on a tree, photoshopped out the collars and other junk then posterized it. Blew it up to 2 x 3 ft or so then matted and framed it, I love it. Sorry the photo isnt great with some reflection on the glass

Thanks everyone, keep Dixie in your thoughts. About three weeks ago she started losing weight and not eating. Took her to the vet and they diagnosed a severe kidney infection with other possible complications. Put her on five times the required dose of antibiotics for over a week and did all the blood and urine tests again, no improvement and she still wouldnt hardly eat. Then we got referred to a specialist clinic in Greenville and she has been there since on IV's and very high dosages of another antibiotic. The infection is cleaned up but as of this Am her kidneys are not functioning properly, they are continuing the treatment and will run the blood and urine tests again tomorrow but if there isnt any change I have no idea where we go from there. All dogs are special but some are heart dogs, this one is my heart dog and I hate to see her suffering. She has been a great companion and a "coondog" that always makes me proud and she has never met a person she didn't like so keep her in your thoughts , thanks

They ran the tests again on monday and it finally came down some. Was at 9 and monday it showed 7 which is headed the right way, needs to be 1-2. They called later in the day and said that she seemed much brighter. Lynn had made special venison food mixed with rice and chicken and we took it up sat but they didnt refrigerate it so it went bad. So monday she cooked her up more and drove it up. Lynn got to see her and said she seemed a lillte brighter. Monday night they called and said she had eaten some and was much more active and brighter. This morning they called and said she appeared much better but they were going to wait until tomorrow to re test. They also said that she had eaten a full meal which is a good sign. Tonight they called and said she was up and around and seemed much brighter and had pulled her own IV out, lol. They are going to test again in the Am so keep your fingers crossed. Thanks for the notes guys its tough when its such a great dog personality and hunting and she is very special to us but hopefully we get to hunt again soon. thanks

Thanks Tree Daddy, got her home yesterday and she is much improved. She is still on a boat load of pills three times a day and gets a full litre of fluids via IV each day but she is very definite on the mend. Numbers were down significantly yesterday and we will take her to our local vet monday for a re check. She is using her tail to wag her body now and when she saw me with coveralls got real wound so she is on her mend and thats great. I wont be able to hunt her for a while but that will come. Going tonight with my old girl and a young pup that is just starting so we will see what happens, thanks for the crossed fingers, think its worked

Doing well thanks. She has gained some of her weight back and is still on some pretty heavy meds as well as getting a liter of IV fluids per day. She goes back to the vet tomorrow to get another kidney function check of her cretene and we will know better then. She seems bright and playful and has been eating a lot better so I am very hopeful that we get a good report tomorrow and a few weeks from now I can stand under a tree with her.

thanks for asking

First time in the woods for about a month and a half and dixie had a blast. Four trees, 1 single, two doubles, and 1 I could not see the coon in for heavy leaves

Tree daddy, according to the map program you are only 62 miles from our hunt camp so we will have to get together and run black dogs some night.
