I live in Covington and just got myself a new bird dog. Does anyone know if you can work a dog out at Charlie Elliot/Clybel WMA. Isn't most of that tract designated for small game hunting?

Don't think so canebrake, Clybel is not one of the bird dog training areas. Walton Dove Field in Social Circle is one though. I got this from the hunting regulations.
TRAINING DOGS: There is no closed season
for training dogs on private lands. On National
Forest Lands, dogs may not be trained from
June 1 - Aug. 14, or as otherwise provided, and
pen-raised birds may not be used at any time. It is
unlawful to run deer with dogs, except during open
seasons for hunting deer with dogs, or to take
game by any means while training hunting dogs,
except during open seasons for such game. It is
unlawful to possess firearms (except handguns
with blank or shot cartridges), axes, climbers, or
other equipment for taking game while training
hunting dogs except that shotguns with number
six or smaller shot may be used while training
pointing, flushing, and retrieving dogs using pen
raised quail and pigeons provided that the dog
trainer maintains proof of purchase of pen raised
quail. Persons training dogs for hunting must have
a valid Hunting License unless they are on their
own land or land of an immediate relative. For
specific rules regarding WMAs see page 16.
DESIGNATED BIRD DOG TRAINING AREAS:
See page 18. Bird dog training is allowed
year round, only during daylight hours or as
otherwise specified, only pen-raised quail and
pigeons may be released and harvested using
shotguns with number six or smaller shot while
training pointing, flushing, and retrieving dogs
provided that the dog trainer maintains proof
of purchase of pen-raised quail.

Don't know why I didn't think to check the regs first. Thanks!
Am I reading this right? Can you shoot pen-raised quail year round while training your dog? Anyone been to the bird-dog training areas at Allatoona or Paulding Forest WMAs?

That is what it sounds like. I know the warden over there at Paulding Forest. Maybe he could point us toward the training areas. His name is Lee Burns and office # is 706-295-6041. Email is rangerburns@yahoo.com. Might want to try him and confirm where the areas are located on the WMA!

You can shoot pen raised birds year round.
Make sure to check the regs. Some areas have specific dates for when you can train bird dogs. If you have access to private land then you can train year round.
