Just curious? Why do we in the west georgia area have to drive so far (couple hours) to find a WMA open for Black Powder? :flag:

Good question, they used to run a primitive weapons hunt on PF. Course it also used to be open all season.

The p.w. hunt for paulding used to be in dec.I think it was canceled for lack of participation.
I wish they had it the same week as ML

Was it closed because of the population of the deer head and who do we contact to find the correct answer? :flag:

I don't think it was closed because of deer population, not enough people were participating.
Paulding Forest used to have 3,three day sign in hunts.
Now they have 2,four day sign in hunts.
There's plenty of deer. The first hunt last year,I saw deer every day, killed one.
The second hunt,I had the area all to myself, saw 7 deer and killed one

Jeff and I hunt the buck only every year and can attest to the fact there is no shortage in the heard at Paulding Forrest. I have never hunted this place without seeing a deer and only 1 hunt have I struck out in not taking at least 1 deer. I will take a photo this evening of the buck I got off of there last year. You will have to exscuse one side of his antlers though. They still have yet to be found or figured out exactly where they or what had happened to them. I posted the story on here last year but it was pretty sad to say the least. Jeff, We still on for this year right?

Jeff you sound knowledgeable about the forest. I hunt the side toward mt.view church and I have seen a couple scrapes. A couple guys have have seen a few chased by dogs. Are you hunting close to the checkin station?

I used to hunt off willow springs road alot, that is where I've seen the biggest deer in paulding, but for numbers,I see more off braswell mt. road.(BMR)
I'll probably got to BMR and brown it's down, then over to willow springs and wait for bigger
