I killed a decent buck recently and I need some direction in doing my own european mount. Do I cut the skull down? I know that I need to boil and scrape and put peroxide on it and not boil the antlers or get peroxide on them, but that is about all I know. Any pictures would be great that would help me.

you can tie it out good with wire,so nothing drags it away and place it in a fireant bed.

Cut the scull plate off the way you want it. Clean as much of the meat off that you can and then boil for 20 minutes. Add a little dishwashing liquid to help degrease. Remove and scrape. Repeat the process as many times as needed to get the scull clean. If you have a pressure washer, that will help clean it also. Do not boil longer than 20 minutes at a time or the cartlidge holding the nasal bones together will be destroyed and come apart. Teeth will also loosen. When you have the scull cleaned, make a paste of corn starch and Developer with peroxide ( get it from a beauty supply store) and brush on heavy. Wear gloves or the mix will burn you. Set the scull in the sun to aid the bleaching process. In a couple of days, you should end up with a great mount.
