View Full Version : WAR II Cooking Competition Rules

Muddyfoots and I have come up with a set of rules that we feel will lend a degree of fairness, cleanliness, and hopefully, lots of fun to the competition scheduled for Saturday, March 7 from 10:00 until 12:00 noon, or lunch time, whichever comes first.

To enter a dish, you need to let us know that you intend to enter prior to the starting time for the competition. We'll have a simple sign in sheet and that should give us all the information we'll need to get your entries to the judges for the competition. We'll warn everyone and will also have signs directing you to the sign-up table on the day of the event. We would like to get a PM from you before the event so we'll know how many folks are planning to enter. That would help us out a great deal.

We will assemble some prizes for the win, place, and show in this deal. We will happily accept donations of prizes for the competition, so if you'd like to help out in that regard, please let either Muddyfoots or me know via PM.

If you have questions regarding these rules, post them here and we'll try to get 'em answered for you.

Thanks.

WAR Cooking Competition – General Rules
There is only going to be one caetgory and that will be cooked food.:bounce:

You can grill it, fry it, bake it in a dutch oven, braise it, boil it, or whatever. We just want you to cook it.
Start your cooking at home if necessary. We really don't care. But, it really ought to be finished at the event.

感lease, above all else, maintain strict sanitation practices in all of your cooking and food preparation!
慌e don’t want to make anyone sick! Therefore, we respectfully request that you take great pains in making sure that your dish has been prepared under sanitary conditions, please.
感lease provide your own hand washing supplies, including water.
感lease keep things that need refrigeration cold.
感lease provide an adequate supply of food for judges and for tasting
感lease provide containers for presenting food to judges.
感lease provide adequate supplies for public tasting.
廈ave fun and enjoy the fellowship of the competition!

Our main concern regarding the lines that state cooking equipment must be clean and rust-free is to provide for the safety of the food sampling public and the judges. We don't want to make anyone sick.

There isn't a smoking competition. Not that we wouldn't like to do it, but it's just too much for a couple of hours out of one day.;)

Hey,Dutch - I've got a BUNCH of brim and crappie fillets that I can bring. Not for competition, just "general consumption.":bounce: They are frozen in water,so they'll still be good in March.I can bring some fresh, too,if you think there'll be enough eaters.I'd also need a couple of other fryers to help cook 'em.

dutchman
03-08-2009, 08:29 AM
We did wind up with ten entries. For a complete listing of those who entered, see the first post in this thread. The winners were as follows:

1st - Bitteroot
2nd - MWAllen56
3rd (tie) - Ellaville Hunter
3rd (tie) - Bigox911

I'd like to thank each of the ten participants in the competition for their good work. I'd like to thank our judges, Nugefan, Buck#4, and DRB1313 for their tireless efforts as well. They agreed to be judges many months ago and were chosen for their objectiveness, honesty, and overall good character (even though they are all Bulldog fans). It's obvious that none of them were chosen for their looks.:D

I'd also like to thank Nicodemus for donating the 1st prize for the competition. It was much appreciated and I can tell you that Bitteroot was very happy to win it!

Finally, I'd like to thank my buddy, Muddyfoots for all the work he did to make the competition possible.
