Just a friendly reminder to yall as you get ready for this ML season to put the orange in the truck...You could be like me 2 yrs ago and be at walmart at daylight instead of in the tree...
Jason
as a bowhunter I appreciate the reminder for my own safety as well as the inconvenience of having to go back and get one after the fact.
Good reminder sir.

Thanks I probably would have forgotten all about it. Like th time I drove 45 min. to hike 25 min. to climb up in the tree, strap in, pull up my gear, knock an arrow and realize my release was in the closet at home :banginghe

yep, got mine out this morning and made sure it was washed up with scentaway detergent.
i sure have enjoyed not having to worry with the orange during bow season. not that i don't understand the safety aspects or that i buck the system of wearing orange during required times--i don't. but, knowing that i can wander the woods in peace without having to even wonder if a nutcase is going to shoot in my direction with a high powered rifle because he sees some bushes move or hears a noise is great.
i do think we should NOT have to wear orange while up and settled in the deer stand. you should have to put it on before descending so you're not on the ground for a moment without it. i'll take my chances on getting shot out of a tree. the odds are probably better of me getting hit in the head with a meteorite right now than getting shot while sitting in a treestand.
I understand your sentiments but wanted to make you aware of an incident which occurred about 10 years ago. As I recall, it happened in Paulding County, but don't quote me on that as fact.
A hunter was shot dead out of his tree stand by another hunter(term used loosely) shooting at movement he thought was a deer. The victim was high up in a tree on the opposite side of a ridge from the shooter but from the shooter's perspective it appeared he the movement was on top of the ridge. Apparently it was a long shot but a lethal one nonetheless. The victim, as I recall, did not have his vest on. The bullet entered the back side of his shoulder and exited his chest.
As you can see, even being high up in a tree is no guarantee some fool will not shoot you. Just wanted to share this with you for your consideration. Maybe it will make you feel a little better about wearing your vest even when high up.
