The primary goal of the Southern Sportsman Hunting Club is to provide members and guests a safe and enjoyable hunting experience.

The Southern Sportsman Hunting Club is located in northeast Georgia five miles west of Lincolnton, Georgia off of Highway 378. This 1269 acre lease consists of pine plantations of various ages, feed plots, creek drainages, hardwoods, cut over and a good road system.

Our club fashions its management strategy similar to a QDM style whereby we require that all bucks harvested must have 4 points on one side and a minimum tine length of 1 inch.

Our camp is fairly level with amenities that include a community fire pit, picnic tables, horseshoe pits, privy, and posting board. We use a pin-out system to ensure the location of our hunters at all times during archery and firearms season. All stands are open to all members however the stand owner or builder has first choice of his stands.

We encourage a family style of hunting. When you become a member your spouse and up to two children under age 18 also receive full membership privileges. Lunch is provided during club clean up day which is typically held in early September. The club also hosts a pot luck lunch on opening day of firearms season. Members are encouraged to bring a dish and join in the fun. Our annual Horse Shoe pitching tournament takes place following the pot luck lunch.

how many members and how much are the dues?

We will go with 29 members at $700 annual dues. Please call me to discuss this further. Although 29 sounds like too many for 1269 acres it really isn't because we generally have less that 50% participation.

Is this a "for profit" club? The dues seem unusually high for only 1269 acres. With 29 members @$700 ea. that works out to $20,300--almost $16.00 per acre.

Well, yes or no?

We are not a profit club. We pay over $12 per acre plus we maintain a budget for feed plots planted twice per year and for road improvements. We generally break even. We hope that addresses your questions.

Best regards,

Doug
