My wife and i would like to do some cold weather backpacking and camping in feb.We are looking for a place
that we can hike and do some small game hunting as we go along.Somewere in north georgia like lake russell wma
or the appl trail around suches.does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?Can you hunt on the AT?

Here is some info. In short the answer is that yes, hunting is allowed in certain areas but if I were looking for a backcountry hiking/hunting experience I'd steer clear of the AT. I'd be looking for something with less traffic. I'd give a shout to the ranger station at the Chattahoochee NF for some recommendations. They should be more than helpful...

Try chattahoochee wma, not too far from you and there's plenty of squirrels and even a chance at a hog. you can camp on the river.
