I Just Moved to your Great State and am looking for info on where the best spot to do some ATVing with the family. I would love to pack a tent and some fishing gear too and maybe do an overnighter as well. I am a Disabled vet and the kids are new to the sport, I am looking more for a casual ride with the scenery being more important than the terrain. Any info would be great Thanks and God Bless

Welcome Luke to the state, just hope your not a little let down by ride area choices. Your best bet will be the privately owned areas, such as Broad River Atv park, Durhamtown Plantation, Rocky Creek atv trail, and there are a couple more just can call off the top of my head. All these should have primitive camping ,a fishing hole, and all have one way trails.
the state has a few managed trails but only 2 offer camping and one of those close Jan 1 til the end of March. this should be the state link

hope you have a safe and enjoyable trips.

Check out Highland Park Resort. We went there recently and it was awesome. Well maintained, family oriented and well marked all one way trails. www.highlandparkresort.com

Durhamtown Plantation is a nice easy place to ride for any skill level there is even a younger kids track were no adults can ride on. There is places to camp with rv tent or a cabin. I believe they have full hook ups too.It is located out 20 toward athens. I have road there a bunch and there is plenty of trails to make a weekend out of it. Not sure about the fishing side though.
Rocky creek needs a little experience in my opinion. If it has rained any in the past week or two before you go it is going to be pretty nasty and not fun for a little one learning to ride. I also know there is no fishing there. There is camping for rvs or tents. SItes are primitive or elec. and water hook ups no sewage. they are limited though. They also have free public showers and bike wash.
Hope this helps

Luke, I'm in the same boat, just moved here, looking to atv, camp and fish. I believe that I have found a place that will allow you to camp anywhere on the property. Hate camping in camping only area's. Send me a PM if your interested.

no matter what, you need to ride at durhamtown at somepoint. mike has something for everyone there, mx tracks, xc loops, mud bogs, one way trails, proshop, camping, kitchen, freestyle, pee-wee tracks, flat track, cabins, bike and atv rentals, aprox 150 miles of trails, hunting, fishing?, etc
