OK, since we are created in "His image" what is His "image"? Male, female, white, black, young, old... ?
I mean really, what does He look like? Must be something. Or... not to lead anyone, but does created in His "image" mean something entirely (non physical) different? ::huh:

He looks like us. We were created in his image. If you don't believe that, the creation theory goes right out the window.
To me it does mean something totally different. Not physical at all. I am not sure I know how to explain it but to me it means in His moral, loving, careing image. Those aren't really the words but I can not find them right now!

I know what you are saying regarding the nonphysical.
Do you believe he has an 'appearance' (physical) at all? If so, what is it?

I do not believe it is a physical appearance. Like when He comes back. I imagine your body jsut falls over and your spirit/soul will rise. Not really physically seeing Him come! You are getting way over my head though. Kind of like that BLack Hole stuff. I can not begin to fathom. I mean what does a soul look like?

I don't think were supposed to know. I mean isn't it wrong to make an image of him? Dunno, but I thought that was the case.
If he does look like George Burns, hope I don't have to endure that cigar smoke. :bounce:

considering our bodies are simply shells that carry our spirit i really don't know if God's a person in the sense of what we think of.
interesting to think about, but i'm not losing any sleep over it. as long as He loves me and i love Him that's all that's going to matter.

we were/are created to the spiritual image of God. God is a spirit. No one has "seen" God. I believe this is scripturally correct.
So next point...How can Jesus be God and man? (This is a real stumbling block for semetic religions.) My answer: He was God made flesh. Or, Holy Spirit made flesh!
The whole issue of the Holy Spirit is the very issue of contention. For christians God walks with us as the Father was with Jesus. This is all nebulus to people who do not know that the Holy Spirit is a person of God and is God to christians. For christians the three persons of God, or trinity is/are not just semantics or words, it is how God has revealed himself to them /us.
For christians Jesus did not send down another prophet after his assention, but he send down God's spirit to reside in intimate relationship with those who would chose life according to God's will. To know Jesus is to know God and to know God is to know the Holy Spirit and that spirit is a spirit of love and grace. Where love and grace are so is God.
For the folks in Jesus's day seeing was a function of the inner self. Or, sight or outlook depended how intact this "inner self" was. For Moses, a couple of thousand years previous, I believe the "sight" of God was blinding.
There are many mansions....and grounds to "look" onto.... :D

Impossible to know. Some take "in his image" to simply mean his mental image of what/who we should be- not physically like him.
I certainly don't think God is a "he" or "she". I find it amazing that so many think God is physically a male. As though God would have any need for male reproductive organs. But, it is a belief that has persisted.
Though, I suppose God could appear in any form "he" chose.
I also wanted to add, I think we make God in our image. Meaning, we want to believe god is just like us. So, we visualized him with a similar appearance. Blacks have pictures of a black Jesus. Whites have pictures of a sandy-brown haired, blue-eyed Jesus. Asians probably see him as asian. Simply, he is everything to everybody.

I also don't believe God is 'male' in the since of being sexual. Other than being a spirit, He is described with many traits that we normally associate with males. He is a 'warrior' for example. God is also referred to as 'he' throughout the bible. The plural of God is also used early in the bible, in Genesis, where God says..."Let us make man in OUR image". Yep....Jesus was there!
