I'm in Cherokee County and will be doing most of my hunting here this spring, though if all goes as planned I'll be making a few trips to my deer lease down in Dublin this spring as well. My uncle's been watching some birds for me by his house and so has a friend of the family at a different location, both in Cherokee county and fairly close to home, so getting after them shouldn't be a problem for me. My lease is covered up with birds too but work keeps me home most weekends, I've already got one 3 day trip down there planned too.

I'm in Forsyth county. i got a few birds in my back yard. also have a lease in Baxley, talkingrock, and ballground. i also have a few spots on the Chattahoochee wma and Dawson forrest. team-run-n-gun sounds good to me

Forgot to add to lock on, a good portion of my private land hunting will be done pretty close to Pickens, my uncle's land is off Howell Br. Rd. in Ballground. I wish my family still owned all that land (my great great grandpa owned over a thousand acres there back before he died), I'd have my own little hunting paradise there now.

Sounds like we have got a good chance! I'm excited! I usually hunt with somebody most of the time! Some buddies and I always swap around and one shoots one runs a camera but I'd like to meet up with anybody who wants to and chase the ol thunder chicken together! I hunt Dawson forest alot! Always know where some birds are there! We have so many places to hunt up here I don't know where I will be opening morning! Friday will decide I guess! I just happen to be off the first 7 days of season! Oh yeah, I love the team name cause thats my style of hunting!

To say I'm jealous is an understatement, I've got to be at work at 6:45 saturday morning.. the good news is that I'm pretty sure I'll be the only one hunting both of my places up here by the house, so I won't have to compete with any pressure when I do make it out :shoot:

sounds like we will have a good season. went yesterday to roost some birds and ended up seeing 13 deer with no turkeys.

Talked to my uncle today, he told me where he's been seeing them and where they've been roosting so I'll be over there trying to roost one tomorrow night and if I get someone to cover me at work Saturday I'll be out there and if I can't be there that day, I'll definately make it Sunday and Monday mornings. I can't wait, I wanna :shoot:

Well, it looks like I'm heading to camp Saturday night and will spend Sunday hunting with my dad before he heads home, then my buddy's heading up from Statesboro on Monday and we'll be there til Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, I should get some opportunities at some birds for sure.

With the rain coming in tomorrow, I think it might be time to hit some open spots on the local WMA and see if I cant get on one. I'll be throwing on my rain suit and getting after them around lunch time tomorrow, hopefully I can get on them.

What's happening guys? I haven't had much luck finding the birds yet! We saw 7 strutting together, 4 longbeards and 3 jakes and no kill! I don't know how they got around us! Im still hunting them but their not gobbling at all where I'm hunting! Maybe soon I can get on a hot bird

I haven't had any luck either time I've been out yet either, but that should change when I make it to my club, I'm hoping my dad has them roosted when I get there Saturday so we can try for a double the next morning before he leaves

Well we finally got on a hot bird this morning and then the rain hammered us! It's been a bad start with this weather for me! Hope it gets better soon! My buddy killed one so im shooting in the morning! Hope he is back!

Ah that sucks, nothing we can do now though, I just posted mine on the kill thread a little while ago.

I layed these 2 down Sunday morning, they'd been gobbling within 200 yards of me for almost an hour, they worked all the way around and finally came in. I busted em at 54 and 60 steps

good job! I went on Lake Russell WMA today and got on four gobblers that pulled a huidini on me and disappeared. Gonna try to get on em next week.

Thanks, I'm proud of them, I think I've got it bad now, ever since I heard that first gobble Sunday morning I've been hooked, I think it may be more addicting than deer hunting. I was trying to call for my friend that came up to hunt with me after everyone else left camp and we went to roost some birds, we had 3 different ones gobbling and I was beside myself I was so happy just to hear some gobbles.

well I had one at 80 yards this morning but he kept going right on by us and gobbling the whole time.. I guess maybe he saw some hens and didnt want to come ck out our decoys..... I really thought her was coming to us.. but, hopefully in the morning....

AA, I had the same thing happen to me Tuesday morning when calling for my buddy, seems like it always happens like that haha, the sad part was that after he started moving off, he moved right to where we were when we roosted him the night before.. and good luck LB, hopefully you'll get on em.

yea, after we got up and tried to cut him off, sounded like he turned and was headed right back to where we had come from.. We are gonna set up where he crossed a little road in the am, Hopefully he will take the same path.. good luck to everyone

Another idea would be to split up and try to get him between you if possible, it'll double the odds of one of you getting a shot atleast.

Anybody else had any luck? This weather sucks for turkey hunting, especially the snow flurries and wind we've got going on today. Hopefully it'll be nice over the weekend and next week so I can get back out there and try to put some more points on the board.

Is it just me or are the turkeys not worth a flip this year! Every place I go seems to have no birds that are gobbling! Maybe 1 or 2 times then thats it! Kentucky bound come thursday and hope to tag several up there!
