We planned a senic route up thru helen Ga, Wolf Pen Gap road , hwy 68 and 60 thru the twisties. GREAT ride although it was raining.......

We arrived early afternoon and pitched out tents at the KOA in tellico Plains. GREAT place clean facilities. I would recommend it to anyone camping with the wife and kids.

Then we went for a ride to see some close in stuff. Found a great waterfall and some awesome routes along diffrent rivers in the area. Man I wish I had took a rod for some trout fishing...next year I will leave a day or two earlier just to fish the area prior to the rides.....

Had a GREAT country meal and a homegrown family restruant and sat around the Camp with a few cold coronas till rack time....

Next morning was a good breakfast then off to CMA to link up for some riding with other Dual Sport riders. There were aprox 120 folks signed up for the rides....this is just a small portion of what was there.

I decided to run the dragon into deals gap and a few folks were along for the fun. we rode the skyway thru the mountians into NC then back to Tenn where we ran the infamous DRAGON...We stopped at Deals gap for lunch along the route....

We wound up doing just about 200 miles on friday. all pavement thru the mountians and twisties...

Tommorow would be a little bit dirtier....

Again we spilt a few coronas hiding under the roof at the KOA as we had some bad thunderboomers come thru. made it to the tents and slept thru the rain...the next morning all was wet..but clearing.....

Hot coffee time

How many times did your pegs hit on the dragons tail? My floor boards got messed up. I could tell when my (now X) wife had her eyes open, because she was saying some words I can't put on here. But it was a ride I will not forget.

This trail went right along side of the mountian. hard to tell in the pics but if you were off the skinny trail that was just about wide enough for the handlebars you would have to side step to go down it was so steep...several hundred feet down... The trail was a slick as owl ...snot to put it nicely
http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/tdt_09_109.jpg

I went down twice and got high centered on my skidplate with the back of the bike hanging off. another inch and she would have went down the side. Brads bike did do a couple flips down the side. Lucky for him he got off the high side. it took 5 of us and a LOT of team work, sweating and grunting oh yea some cussing too, to get the bike back up on the trail. I don't have any pics of that as I was further up the trail and walked back to help. You couldn't turn a bike around..you had to commit to the ride...

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/tdt_09_111.jpg

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/tdt_09_119.jpg

heres mine high centered on the rock she was perfectly ballanced..it was crazy.....

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/tdt_09_112.jpg

In this pic you can look just in front of the bike and see the side how steep it is..80% of the trail was like that. VERY CHALLENGING for the big bikes. A smaller dirt bike would be a blast in there. It showed me I still need lots of pratice in the technical stuff.....

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/tdt_09_113.jpg

After all of us went down a time or two we finally made it out and back right at dark bafore the storms hit again. it was another evening of coronas in the rocking chair till I hit the rack.

Sunday morning the rain stopped just enough to pack all our wet gear away and load the bikes up for the haul home. We left at 08:30 and I finally got home at exactly 17:00 hrs. Long ride but home with the family at last. I can't wait to do it again in the fall in NC again. just at 1200 miles on the KLR for the trip ..Dual sporting....it's the way to go guys!!!!

It was a good 20 ft down or so I would guess where it came to rest. The next shot is back on the trail and doing a bit of wrencing to be able to continue the ride....
