Big deer are everywhere in GA, you just don't see them all the time which makes this question hard to answer. Now if you were to ask which counties have the MOST big deer...you could probably narrow it down to the few counties which have antler restrictions.

Oops, left out Dooly Co. But you can hunt IL for the price of hunting Dooly.

Fulton for now, look at the latest GON county by county rankings.

I'd say all the Metro Atl Counties, Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Henry, Hunting pressure is low for the most part, they have a better chance of getting hit by a car than being shot.

Not even close. Lee, Macon and Worth. You don't hear about a quarter of the big ones from there. Metro deer get a lot more publicity.

gonna have to agree with ace. not to take anything away fulton there have been some monsters taken there but a lot of the deer that get killed in more rural areas never get scored and word just doesn't travel as far.

X2!!!!! Go talk to some people that hunt the river in macon or dooly county and have been hunting it for a few years...they wont even shoot a 130" deer and sometimes not a 140" unless it's an 8 pointer. The reason Macon County has dropped in the rankings to Lee lately is bc Macon county got so popular from GON's county rankings that everybody and their brother came down there and shot every 2 1/2 yr old 15" 8 pointer that walked in front of them. I remember plenty of times going to a cooler and seeing 15 or 20 "legal" 8 pointers hanging in the cooler. These counties have the big deer. There are numerous 150 and 160's killed in these counties every year that no one ever hears about..

I agree about not hearing about most of the big ones. There's always a lot of big ones I see killed locally that people don't find out about.

I bet ya'll haven't seen this one in a magazine. He had a third beam coming out from the base of his right side. A friend's uncle killed it last year in Worth

Any primarily agricultural county along the Flint River corridor. This would include the following counties: Macon, Dooly, Lee, and Worth. There's also some good hunting in Crawford, Sumter, Taylor, and Mitchell.

The ? is MOST biggest deer .. I d go with the Sw Ga Flint river basin -- anywhere up and down the river .

But its a very true fact that many huge bucks go under the radar and never get scored or go public that are taken all over Ga . That increases alot of attn to land owners with offers to increase leases and / remove hunting rights to those that have been hunting for free for yrs .. Folks have learned to just keep their mouth shut and haul'em to the taxidermist .

I personally know of several folks with Ga giants that NET 170+ that will Never be brought out in public .

I agree with the flint river basin counties....and that includes dougherty county...it's eat up with big deer. I have a buddy that has access to about 4000 acres in Worth county, near the colquitt and tift county line....it's unreal the deer he sees and kills.

No one can deny that fulton and parts of dekalb have huge deer.
Morgan, Walton, Newton, and Rockdale county areas have monsters as well. There's also a hand full of mid ga counties that don't get the credit they deserve...Twiggs, Wilkinson, and Laurens. There's a heap of good deer that are killed in those three every year that get no recognition.

My little piece of heaven in bibb holds some nicer than average deer too.

Regardless of whether or not the counties in southern georgia do not get as much publicity concerning big deer, i think that without a doubt fulton and dekalb county offer a georgia hunter the best chance of taking a big deer, even with the bow only restrictions.

I'll bet Burke/Screven County on against Lee, Worth, and Macon County any day. And most of them are actual Georgia deer not brought in from Wisconsin. I can take you to one man's house in Burke County where'll pee yourself from some of the deer and sheds in there. But just like those other three, you won't ever hear about them. I laugh every year I see the county by county rankings.

I would have to say Fulton(Atl Metro Area) Morgan, Hancock and Flint Corridor. Year after year these areas produce the biggest deer.

Find the area with the least amount of hunting pressure.
Fulton co is so good because of the isolated pockets of woods with development around it. They funnel thru tight areas and be killed more easily. Rural counties have huge deer too but they can hide more easily and are harder to corner for a kill.

If you didnt know the story behind the "Billy Joe Padgett" non-typical from Telfair.......here it is, ---The state record was supposedly killed between the Lumber City and Jacksonville Ga area where there are some big deer killed every year under the radar. However the deer that Billy Joe shot was under investigation and the deer head has been replicated and moved and nobody really knows where the "real" deer is. The rumor was he shot it after dark like so many big bucks in this area due to the intense hunting pressure from the locals. To cut this story off though----Padgett told his girl friend of all people that he was hunting over in /around clay co. area.......Padgett is resident of Telfair county and who knows what the real truth is....who'll ever know for sure? God and Billy Joe

This is correct but you left out Dooly. I've been hunting Dooly for about 13 years and just about every big buck I know about has never sniffed the pages of Gon. The Flint river corridor is tops and it's not debatable, period.;)

single best county is Worth if you use B&C and P&Y entries only.......it has entered more deer with higher scores than any other county in GA.........so says deer and deer hunting last month.....but any of the above counties in the flint bason are about as good as the others.......biggest typical ever in GA is from Monroe Co. and biggest N/T from Dodge

and biggest N/T from Dodge

Billy Joe Padgett killed the state record or biggest N/T in Telfair County. Kills big bucks every year there. Basically any county that has a major river running through it, not much pressure, and ample food is gonna have big deer.

yall may think im crazy.i work grave yard in cherokee county.i have seen at least 10 different bucks this year already.i know for sure that 4 would give that avatar buck rack of short stops a run for its money.nothing bad to you short stop that is an awsome buck.id guess the others to be at least 120 to130's.and seen alot of young bucks as well.id guess cherokee would be in the top 6 no doubt.

I have to agree with the idea of people not saying anything in order to keep lease prices from going up due to competition. I know in 2007 that there were at least six deer over 130 killed within an area of about 250 acres in one of those areas on the map in the previous post, but that county ranks way down on the list for big buck counties in the latest GON. Several 140 and 150 deer are killed in the area every year and not mentioned. Most of our deep pocketed visitors that journey northward this time of year would run the local guys out of the woods if they knew.

Everyone is saying Fulton because alot of big deer are recorded out of this county. But the deer are mostly funneled into woodlots and hunting becomes much easier in these situations. Hence more kills..I don't think Fulton has more big bucks than alot of other counties, but we see more big buck kills because of the woodlot senario..

I think some of the farming counties along the flint river hold the biggest racked bucks..
