i saw in a older thread not to rely on a gps in cohutta why is this or has technology changed and it isnt so anymore

I can anwser that, when you get in some places there it cant find enough satlites to give you a bearing. Down in the hollows all you can see is straght up and then only if you can find a hole in the hemlock tops. newmoon

Some GPS units locate the satelites better than others. I bought a Trek and had that problem constantly. Took it back and bought a Magellan Sport Track Pro and it locks on much better.

If you spend good money ,on a gps .you wont have any issues.The cheap ones lose sat signal under cover .and good one dont.

Mine does pretty well up there. It's made for the heavy covered canopy.
