Yep I'm going to blame this one on Ron. I was about to get out of my stand this morning when I looked left and a bear was only 30 yards away. I stood up and got my bow and by now it is only 15 yards away. Looking down on it, I really couldn't tell how big it was. Without a doubt it was legal but I didn't want to shoot a 100 and something pound bear. Well I was at full draw and just couldn't get myself to commit. It walked under my stand and chewed and licked on my pull up rope for probably two minutes. Finally it smelled me and ran about 60 yards up the ridge. When it stopped I could really tell then that it was 200 plus. It looked like a 150 pound bear that had swallowed two five gallon buckets. It was insanely fat and I think that made it look stubby when I was looking down on it. I wasn't too disappointed as he has been coming the same way according to the tracks in a dry creek bed. But Ron and that 346 dollars was in the back of my mind no doubt. Now if I had only had Bucky with me, he could have told me to shoot or not and I wouldn't have had to stress.::ke: Good Hunting. You did the right thing. If you cann't tell don't shoot! There are a lot of bears out there this year and if you put the time in you will get another shot! I still cann't believe how quiet a bear can be!!!!!!!!!!!! KP.

you got that right. I shot my bear in some mixed pines. I never heard it coming. Saw it stick its muzzle out of the bushes from the corner of my eye. It was already at 15 yards.

Sorry Brother, better safe than out $346.00.
Next year when I can Bear Hunt again, unless it looks like a MOOSE I will stand down and let it pass...
I may step on another rake and it will hit me in the head, but it will NOT be þhe same rake...
You did the right thing though.

Well just to be honest I didn't plan on shooting one unless it weighed 575. I been riding around to farms picking up young cows to try and see what 575 lbs looks like.:rofl::rofl::flag::flag:
