but can't find primers !!! i have regular muzzleloader primers, but not the 209 shotgun primers. charlotte nc bass pro has plenty of 209 on the shelf, but nary a primer in stock :smash: is it an absolute that a muzzleloader 209 won't light the bh209 ?

regular 209 primers are just a tad hotter than muzzleloader 209 primers, a muzzleloader primer should work ok. Only way to know for sure is to try it.

for consistency you need basic 209 primers.

I use winchester, but CCI work as well.

straight from Western's site

STANDARD 209 shotshell primers are recommended for Blackhorn 209. Special 209 Muzzleloading Primers (see list on next page) may not provide reliable ignition and ARE NOT RECOMMENDED.
