I notice that the local processing plants are offering bacon burger now...Ive never tried it but i think it would give a new flavor to deer meat....Ive got a doe at Hicks now getting ground and cubed...I think I will cut up some bacon and make some myself to see how good it is...

Arrow,
I'm not sure what you mean by "bacon burger", but here while back I made up some burgers and then wrapped the outer edge in a slice or two of bacon, pinned it with a toothpick and then grilled them.
Good! Just be sure to remove the toothpicks...

I had some made up last week and it is the best burger of any kind I have ever eaten. It is awesome just by it self too.
Delton, it is 10 pounds of Deer and 2 pounds of bacon ground together into burger.
I've had it and it is excellent. Next one I process I am going to make some.

No? ::huh: I'm sure it would taste good though... :)

My processor will make it also. While I thought it was great for grilling burgers, I did not care for it at all in tacos, spaghetti, lasagna, shepherds pie, etc. I do not have it made anymore. If I want to grill burgers I just mix the bacon in prior to grilling.

Phil, not at all and actually, the burgers shrank very little in size. I fried some in a pan too and had to add crisco. It must have been some pretty lean bacon.
We need to "grill" out a few........
Let me know when they are ready!!!!!!!! :p :p
Man!!!!!!!!!
I'm hungry!!!!!! ;)

I agree,
I have gotten a doe processed up in bacon burger for the last three years. It is great if you like to cook a lot of burgers but in anything else it just doesn't go well.

The only draw back to bacon burger is it doesn't last as long in the freezer as regular hamburger. My grandfather used to make it for us. He'd take slab bacon (smoked), cut the rind off it, and grind it up w/ venison. I believe he used a 30/70 mix, bacon to venison. Perfect for grilled burgers.
