Took a friend up for his 50th Bday to the Soque as a suprise today from his wife. Since this has been on the calendar for a while, he kept pestering me about where we were going. When we got in the dead zone on 197, I threw a fit saying that I left my rods home. I start thinking about names of folks to call to borrow some rods and he's trying to calm me down. Folks who know, there is no cell coverage for about 15 miles so I kept brewing till I can get a cell. Once in range, I try (fake calls) to a few folks....Yes Jimmy, Hamp and Dredger were part of the fake non calls. Finally get ahold of Brian and he says he'll loan some and meet at Batesville. I show my relief and get heading that way. When we get there, I give my buddy his card from his wife and introduce him to his guide for the day...Brian Stout of Chattahoochee River Outfitters ..... and inform him, I'm just watching, having fun and looking forward to assisting.

As usual on the Soque for someone who has never fished it, a lot of praying was done..I was there to film, not fish and as usual..Oh my God was heard alot on the river by my buddy. 19 fish to net, smallest about 3.5#, 15 over 5#, with 2 in double digits. Not a bad day for a newbie to the fly rod. Not suprising, he didn't want to give up the rod that day, learned a ton, and complained about a sore arm on the ride home. Thanks to Brian Stout for the trip.
