As I pulled in the driveway this afternoon, there were a pair of American goldfinches posing on some thistles & grasses along the edge of the yard. I quickly put my gear togather & as I picked my camera up, they flew away!
I also noticed the bluebirds feeding their young in one of our birdhouses. So I got some mealworms out, and added a spring of wild rose to a perch and got ready.
It took a bit, but I got several shots that I was reasonably happy with.
Nikon D3, Nikkor 600 mm w/Sigma 2x teleconverter, f/5.6, 1/100th second, ISO 360, fill flash at ~-2 with better beamer, tripod, cropped to about 75% of frame.
