IFLY4U, that is a really nice collection of points! The broken point with the ears on the base, 3rd from right, bottom row, looks to be a Cumberland. Any chance that was found in Georgia? Could you post a couple of pics of both sides of it? And a pic of the break? Thanks.

The point bottom row 3rd from the right was found in Eastern Ky close to the Ky River. It is a Cumberland and is fluted on both sides. My best piece is the large Copena in the center the is 5 1/4 inches long made from Dover chert. I found it on my lunch break in about 10 minutes of hunting in Tennessee.

That is a nice Copena, and dover to boot. I've been to the Dover quarry site, back about 1983 I think. I remember Dover chert in huge nodules shaped like large watermelons and debitage everwhere. I've heard the place is off limits these days.

I guess that there are several sites where the chert was quarried. I know of one location on private land that is littered with flakes. The ground crunches under your feet while walking and there is a large grave site next to it. The owner gave permission to some college to do a field trip to the quarry site and caught the class digging up the grave site the next day. He put a boot in their arse and since then, he has been pretty protective of the area. It was a great hunting area. I tried knapping a few time but never had much luck at it.

Those are some pretty points. I am heading to Tn in the morning for a weekend of rock hunting. Hope that I find a few to post on here when I get back.

Great points! In SW Ga. all the places I looked have been planted in Pine Trees. Your points remind me of the relaxing times I spent years ago. Spring shower...day or two later I was searching. The new farm harrows are really chipping up stuff.
