Just noticed what appears to be oil that's leaked from the bottom of my washing machine. Not a huge quantity, but enough to notice. Easy fix? And if I can, exactly what is the fluid used? It has the consistency of heavy oil.

How old is it? Warranty on the transmission is usually 5 years. If the leak is close to the belt that could cause trouble also.

If it is a Whirlpool / Kenmore direct drive about the only place it will leak is at the halves. RTV will seal that.

If it is belt drive prolly not worth fooling with.

If it is Frigidaire/ Westinghouse not worth fooling with.

80W90 will work..

If it is going to be outside or in an unheated garage 30W with a couple ounces of Lucas oil will work..
