Vocal hens in the fall??

Why does it seem that the hens are more vocal during the fall than the spring?

I was deer hunting the other morning before church and heard some hens going at it like you wouldn't believe!

I heard more hen noise in one day deer hunting than all of turkey season. (I was out there every weekend and every day of spring break too)

Not sure what the deal is.....

They are typically more sociable in the fall, hanging together in hen or brood flocks rather than worrying about laying and setting and being all moody.
