is there a means of forcing a thread to read status?

I have several threads in several subforums that do not change status after I read through them. Is there a simple means of marking them as read from my end? I can even post to them and the status doesn't change even though I obviously read them in order to post and reread them in case it was a new post under mine that reset it...

The quick links tab at the top right will give you a drop down menu. One of the choices is to "mark forums read" if this doesnt do it there must be something amiss with your computer settings.
