Many of the threads have gotten way off topic. If a question or topic is biblical in nature, keep the discussion biblical. As with anything else, most folks will have opinions as to what Scripture says, that's fine. If you do not believe the bible is true, do not comment, start your own thread and do not hijack the thread in question.

Just for clarification purposes, can you define "Bible" and "Scripture" please? Wouldn't want to be accused of hijacking a thread or anything.....

I'm not making up any rules, just making suggestions.
Example, someone wants to know what folks think about John 3:16, comments should be based on John 3:16.
Someone want to know what folks think salvation means; comments should be based on salvation.
Scripture/Bible: Whatever is written in the Bible:huh:
If all you want to use is OT scripture, then just use OT scripture, but keep the comments on topic.
I would think commentaries and comments by other theologians would be just fine.
I suggest this so that threads do not become personal attacks on one another.

Guys,
I must confess. I have a lot of questions to. I have even read the whole Bible and still do not understand or agree with everything the way some others do. I have many of the same questions DD does. When I ask people, their answer is "just believe it." Well I can not just believe it. Maybe it is my technical mind but just believe it is not an answer for me for anything. I do not expect you guys to have all the answers either but you should be willing to hear me and DD and others out rather than blow us off as trying to disprove christianity. I think, like me, she is trying to learn something. I have been a Christian long enough to understand that some things just require faith. The definite answer is just not there. But if you have an answer, or think you do share it. If you have no answer then ignore the question. Don't degrade the person asking the questions.

I don't believe God expects any of us to 'just believe it'. My heart could never hold on to something that my mind constantly rejected. The Bereans were commended for checking the validity of what Paul was preaching.

"Just believe it" is my long word(s) for having faith. Faith comes with time. But until we get there we need guidance and answers.

There comes a time in ones search for knowledge that you must realize not all things can be explained. Not all explainations are going to be believed by everyone. There comes a time when you have to just let go of getting explainations and have faith. I am not saying there are not answers to ya'lls questions, there more than likely is.
When questions are raised and we try to give you the answers to them and then someone throws it back in our face that the answer that you gave them was not correct, or is not the answer they wanted. That is when people get insulted and start getting on the defensive.
From what I have read of peoples posts it seems more of an "Interrogation of Christianity" than a search for the answers. Nobody likes to be Interrogated.
I know a lot can be lost in the medium that we are conversing in.....

I always try to answer to the best of my knowledge through the leadership of the Holy Spirit but when people refuse to hear because they don't like to hear the truth then you really get tired of trying. Thats what Jesus ment when he said those that have ears to hear let them hear and those that have eyes to see let them see. I'm afraid sometimes we don't want to hear or see because it goes against or ways of living, it causes us not to be able to run with the croud and do what we want if we hear or see so we ignore it or try to legitimize how we live by taking things out of context or arguing the point. The main thing is that Jesus was god who came to earth to live as a man to give us examples to live by and show us it is possible to live without sin, second he died to pay adebt we could not pay and he arose to make a way that we could live eternity with God. The bottom line is if we do not follow him we have no hope of eternal life with God. The opposite of living eternity with God is living eternity in pinkiepinkiepinkiepinkie there is no in between. and like Forrest Gump said Thats all I've got to say about that. It's a personal choice we as Christians are not enforcers of God's word we are only Proclaimers.
