Scout Trip

Looking for ideas for a three day two night canoe camping trip for a group of boyscouts. Have been to the Okeefonokee and have done the Oconee River from Dublin to the Hwy. 46 bridge. Planning for mid to late October. Please give suggestions with as many details as you can. Thanks for the input.

Flint River in Tennessee if you want to go that far. I use to float it from Tim's Ford dam to Fayetteville every summer. Good river side camping spots on the way down. Only small rapids in areas but nothing dangerous. You would have to check their generation schedule though.

Two of my favorites are the Satilla from Highway 82 just west of Atkinson to highway 252 near Burnt Fork. River needs to be at a flow of around 35 cfs and a gauge height of 3.2 or so. Lots of good camping, good fishing and a lot of wildlife. A great small blackwater experience.

Another is the Altamaha form Jaycee Landing in Jesup to the Altamaha River Park. River needs to be around 3.5 on the Doctortown gauge. This is a completely different experience. Good sandbar camping, and good fishing. The Altamaha is a large river but full if history.
