Just got a BP sale paper in the mail today with some Yaks in it. I`m wanting to get one for fishing and short cuts across the River for hunting. What do ya`ll think about the Ascend A10? Its only 299.I also was looking at the Ascend FS12 T Sit on top. Its 479 and the top of my Kayak Budget. Any suggestions?I`ve never sat in a Kayak but have floated the Ocmulgee in a Canoe.RC

of the two, go with the 12'er. More room and more stability. Keep an eye out for used yaks also, you may be able to find a little nicer yak for the same money!

There's 3 great deals on the Georgia Kayak Fishing Classifieds right now, including one of mine ;)

I've had the Ocean Kayak Trident Prowler for a couple of years and just bought the Ascend FS12 as a second "buddy/girlfriend" boat. Had it out twice now and for the money its a really nice fishing kayak. Very stable and tracks as well as my OK. Decent seat a couple of flush mount rodholders and the center rodholder - its equipped and ready to go. I'm very happy with it.

Anything that puts you one the river that you like is a good boat. Before you buy anything, it would be worth a trip to "Go With the Flow" in Roswell, or "The Outside World" in Dawsonville. There is a lot to know and that might help you find the right boat. Craigslist has lots of boats that people are almost giving away. The hard part is knowing when to jump on a deal.

Not sure when you plan on buying but....
I will be at the Bass Pro in Macon for the next two weekendends rep'ing for Ocean Kayak and Old Town. We will have a pool set up out front. Not enough to paddle but big enough to sit in and feel the stability of the yak. We will have OKs OTs and Bass Pro models to check out. Come see me. I can help you with selection and give you some pointers on what to look for in selecting a kayak for fishing.

Thanks Guys. Randy I may come see you Bud.
I`ve been on the River most my life and have been picked at because my River Boat with Mercury power is usually in better shape than my truck. I have this "need" to be on the River I`m sure some of you know what I`m talking about.
I hunt with a longbow and a longbow/Kayak/fishing/camping adventure seems like a great poor mans Safari.RC

You don't have to explain your love of the river to me. I am a riverpirate in another life.
