View Full Version : Game Wardens, how do.....
you greet them?I am not the perfect law abider as some have posted.I am or try to be a perfect gentleman. When I am approached,I immediately unload my gun and lay it aside.I greet the officer with my name and a handshake if I donot know him.If I do I greet him with a handshake anyway.I try to set the stage as a law abiding hunter with some manners.I have yet to have this to backfire and the officier to be rude and rediculious acting as some have posted.
If you meet someone who you donot know and they greet you with their lips poked out, face all drawed up,and acting like you have just stepped on their last nerve. Are you going to be nice and polite? If you are you are a rare example and few and far between!
Maybe, just maybe you are unintentionally not doing something right. Not worth much, just my .02 cents! ;)

Cal,
I'm sure 99% of the time you will be greeted with respect if you act as you said. BUT, don't take offense if some do not shake your hand. When I was a beat cop we were instructed--time and time again-- to not shake hands for officer safety. There have been times when a person would shake an officer's hand to get to their firearm. I imagine GW's are taught the same things.

Sniper,
After reading your post I get your drift!I guess I am lucky in that I have never been exposed to a Warden of that type.Fact is I have never been checked very much anyway.I,like anyone else wouldn't appreciate the kind of treatment you forementioned! My deer stands when I hunted a lots were like the deer are, very hard to find!

I was checked once at big Lazar while turkey hunting. She greeted me my friend and three others that came out ahead of us once we got to our vehicle's.Now I was sure I was in the clear cause I unloaded my gun soon as I got out of the woods.
She was real nice and 4 long we were all laughing and cracking jokes.Well it came down to gun check time. She ask each person to pull out 4 shells and hold them in there hands so as she walked by she checked the guns to see if the chokes were in.Well I thought I had nothing to worry about and when it came my turn she asked for the shells.
Well she put 1 in, pump then the 2nd one, pump then the 3rd one, pump when she shoved that 4th one in Every one woooed me.My face turn red and she said you know this 4th one shouldn't have went in,you must be hunting with out a plug.I told her that I had just bought it a pawn shop and thought it had one.Man did she remind me of my ignorance.I thought I was about to sweet talk my way out of it.......nope.She was the only ranger Ive encountered since then.Man I still laugh at that to this day.

The ones I have met don't seem to appreciate haveing to chase you for 500 yards, so I would recommend something else...
