This dog took up at my aunt's house so we claimed her. Since we own a JRT that's just begging for a buddy, we thought "Newbie" would be the ticket. She looks to have a lot of JRT in her, but the ears scream "Chiwahuah". Cute little dog, and friendly as can be...

Now the sad news, we found out she belongs to the neighbors about a 1/2 mile away, so in the morning "newbie" goes back to them. Maybe they'll let us keep her... I'm already attached to the cute lil' thing. :D

The wife took back "Newbie" today and I'm glad she did. The dog belonged to an elderly lady down the road. When Jamie pulled into the driveway and "newbie" got out, the woman came out almost crying "Shannon.... you found Shannon!". The woman was ecstatic that her friend had been brought back. Come to find out, that Shannon was the ladies companion while her sons were at work.

She offered to pay Jamie for her trouble, but Jamie refused. :)

Both are back together and enjoying each others company again. :)

And my dog Bailey can't figure out what happened to her buddy? ::huh: :)

Rat terrier eh? Got one just like her. Thought she was chihuahua and italian greyhound. She is definately prone to wandering. She has been a good dog. Very tolerant of my bully of a two year old.

Rat's are great with kids
my 7yr old son can call to mine in the lot and she'll climb a 7ft chain link fence
to get to him and she's just 16 months old. Love the rats they seem to be more desiplined than the JRT but if the spirit needs to show they have it.

Now that I know....

What my dog is, I have done some research on Rat Terriers. Seems they come out of good hunting stock. I have been doing quite a bit of looking into blood trailing dogs. It seems I have found people here and there that successfully use this breed for bloodtrailing. Wire haired Daschunds seem to be a big favorite. Interesting....
