Any engine mechanic out there?

I have a 5.7 liter V8 boat engine, IO, with OMC Cobra outdrive. This is in a 23 ft cuddy cabin boat. It has not been started or ran in over 8 years. Where should I start to see if everything is operational?

pull all the plugs. squirt oil in all cylinders. Let sit 3-4 hrs.
Turn engine manually at the front of the motor to see if its siezed up.
If good check oil and change as needed.
Clean out carb unless fuel injected.
Get new gas.
Try and start it. May need to be bottle fed because the carb is most likely clogged up.

x 2 maybe fill the cylinders with marvel mystery oil first along with motor oil, will help prevent a stuck or broke ring.
