Is general admission available at the door, or do you have to pre register? Also, is there a 1 day pass available instead of the 3 day $60 pass I saw on the NWTF site?

You can get them at the door. If you are an NWTF member, admission tickets are free. It would be wise to pre-register. The lines get kind of long.

Yes, you can get a one day pass. If i remember correctly, it was $20 for a one day, but you could sign up for a membership with NWTF for $30 and have free admission for the entire convention, not to mention the year membership with NWTF.
