What colors have you seen foxes?I know grey and red are pretty common. Some may say I am full of it but several years ago I saw one that was solid black while deer hunting in decatur county.I was close, probably 10 yards so there was no mistaking ,it was a fox. Then this past weekend while deer hunting in tift county I saw what appeared to be a blonde fox at about 20 yards. It may have had a reddish tint but to me it looked blonde.I wasjust wondering if guys that do alot of trapping may have seen anything other than red or grey.

We only have two species of fox in the Southeast-red and gray. Gray foxes mostly look the same with minor variations. Red foxes, however, have a lot of different color phases-nearly black with lighter tips("silver" fox,) "cross" fox (black cross on back/shoulders,) and everything in between, from bright cherry red to grizzley grayish to blonde to almost clay tan. I've only saw one black (silver) fox in my life.
