Self pay health coverage

Currently paying $184 per month with Blue Cross/Blue Shield for a $3500 deductible + $3K out of pocket PPO plan with medical only. I can't afford a low deductible, low out of pocket PPO plan because of a pre-existing condition. The premiums would be $300 a month.

Checked into CIGNA because I want to save money and add dental coverage. $171 for a $3K deductible + $4K out of pocket PPO plan with dental coverage. Unfortunately, the dental coverage only covers $1K per calendar year. I'm pretty sure a couple of fillings/crowns would eat that up and something like a root canal would cost me a fortune out of pocket.

Does anyone have any suggestions on other companies. I'm tired of paying over $2K a year for something I'm not even using. I haven't even seen a doctor in over 2 years, but I learned the hard way about being uninsured in the event of an emergency.

I got a thing in the mail the other day that Costco is now offering health insurance. I haven't checked it out but might be something worth looking into.

Do you own your own business? Set it up correctly so you can take a tax deduction for your premiums.

I would look into unions, clubs, professional organizations, etc... for group health insurance. I'm a member of a real estate investing organization and through their national association they offer group health insurance.

I've got an Aetna plan through Costco. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. For me, spouse and one dependent, $625/mo, $7000 deductible, and I gotta pay the first dollar of every visit and every prescription until I reach the deductible.

Looking for a better deal myself.

If your paying for prescriptions out of pocket, look into Sam's Club or Costco. Several medications were about half of other stores.

Definitely shop around, that is way to high. Consider bumping up to a whole family $10,000 deductible and your co-pays. I pay around $350 per month and I have a wife and two kids.
