Anyone ever made jerky from cubed steak?

No, you need to slice it thin to dry. With cubed meat it will take a lot longer to dehydrate (depending on thickness) and will be mighty chewy. Do it if you like it that way and tell us how it turns out.:yeah:
The last couple of years I have made my leftover cubed into jerky, course I grind all of the meat I make into jerky ;)

use your ground venison. you can pick up a jerky kit at Walmart for about $14. Has the seasoning, jerky mix and jerky gun. All you need then is a dehydrator. Makes fine jerky!

When you are using ground venison to make jerky, are you using 100% deer.
What about ground deer from a processor that has some fat mixed in. I guess that would not do right? maybe the fat would never cure.
I think a lot of processor "ground" does contain some "fat" mixed in.
It will work but the meat will take longer to jerk, and be a bit greasy, depends on the fat content of the ground you use. I tried it once but prefer to use meat with no fat :)
I usually have them "cube the best cuts" rather than "cube all you can" so my cubed is fairly clean to start and I clean it a bit more before I grind it :)

My ground has very little pork fat mixed in, so I haven't had a problem with my jerky. Of course, I need to put a deer on the ground this season so I can make some more!!! :shoot:

Have the wrong person cook the cube steak and you can have jerky in no time!
Ever had someone just cook the life out of cubed deer? What a waste. :D :whip:
