forgive me if I step on anyones toes!! first off I would like to say I am not accusing anyone of any wrong doing., but I have a problem with the rules not being followed over and over and nothing done about it. the rules were put in place in the begining of the season and in my opinion they were not hard to understand. If this was any other competion there would be no exceptions! If it wasnt done correctly then it shouldnt count."sorry thats how I feel" just my 2 cents.. maybe its getting that time of month and I just feel like complaining. does anyone else feel the same or is it me.

Yet another reason I hate deer contests and will never participate in them.

Although I don't know what Hoyt man is talking about, I've noticed some myself.

I knew things like this were bound to happen. That's why I stayed away from it. I hunt for myself, not to win contests. Too easy to cheat in this contest !!!!

We let some things slide and used our own judgement and multiple "PM's" with whomever we felt did not follow the rules. We did this only for the archery season.
HOWEVER; There will be no leniency as of Saturday morning.. no excuses.. NONE

I have no dog in this hunt and could care less either way. However, if I could maybe offer some advice as it pertains to enforcing rules. As the president of an ASA club I am faced with arguments, dilemas, and disagreements every time our club hosts a shoot. What I always do, what it always comes back to......enforce the rules equally and equitably across the board. In the end, no one can complain if the rules are enforced all the time.
As I said, I don't care as I truely despise contests. However, rules disputes are an area I know something about. In the long run it is better for everyone if the rules are applied equally across the board during the entire contest. If it means going back and correcting a few entries....so be it.
Take my advice for what it is worth, free and from someone not in the contest.

Rey, Thanks for the advice. This is the first time we have done anything like this so as most would figure there are "growing pains" or whatever you want to call them. We did this for fun.. not for an all out competition.
The entries that did not have the proper items in the pictures were looked at very hard before a decision was made. We had "PM's" with whomever it was and came to our decision based on what we felt was the right thing to do. Yes, Some forgot the bow in the pictures, others the dates were not readable. Not sure whatelse might be of issue here,, but we felt our decision was fair.
I'm very sorry that someone is upset with the way we are running this and if anyone wants out, I will gladly refund their entry fee ::ke:
BUT, as noted above and elsewhere.. After the powder starts burning, there will be no leniency, no discussions, no nothing..
Evereyone, please keep in mind, we did this for fun. It cost you nothing to enter. If you have a concerne about an entry, please contact me about it.
Thanks

In a deer contest someone could pickup a roadkill and you would never know the difference.
So what? It is for fun. Yea, some great people chipped in and gave some prizes but most of us would have gotten in without the prizes. In fact most of us signed up before there were any prizes mentioned. If a man cheats and wins, he'll have to live with it. even though I have not hunted much as of yet, this one thing has added some spice to my hunting. I was getting bored with just shooting deer to eat!

Why bend rules for one season. Rules are clear, to me. I fear if a lot of pics are posted now w/o meeting the criteria............it will come back to bite ya'(or cause a ruckus). Just me
I will not even add a comment to that, as it isn't worth it and would cause problems with persons who made entries.

Randy I agree fully. People cheat, Fact of life today. I am in the contest just for what I get out of it, fun and meeting new people. Regardless of the rules, people who want to cheat will. I think the biggest area for mistake, intentional or unintential, is the scoring. Who cares! Thanks to everyone that has helped and gave prizes. They are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. Why complain?

Well as just1more said we did this for fun, and in all first yr contest there are growing pains, but the growning will be done tomm morning, i think that was fair for everuone, and yes the rules are easy to follow. Trying to get it worked out is not that easy, its easy for someone to sit back and say hey thats not right when they havent offered anything to the contest so its alot easier to be judgemental looking from the outside in. If someone feels the need to cheat then i guess they must, for all i care we can do this for bragging rights, it just happend to be that some great people stepped up and offered some great prizes to make it better. I WILL SAY THIS THOUGH IF THERE CONTINUES TO BE COMPLAING ABOUT HOW THINGS ARE BEING DONE, WE WILL DROP ALL PRIZES AND IT WILL BE STRICTLY FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS, that way certain people wont have to worry about if someone is cheating or not, its all for fun not for $10,000. If anyone does not like that and would like to be removed from the contest then let us know and we will be happy to make it happen.
To everyone else that is supportaive and helping us out i say THANK YOU and lets have a fun rest of the season

Bowhunter24 and Just 1 More,
I just want to say thank you for taking the time to put on this contest. Good grief guys give them a break, I for one didn't expect it to go perfect the first year. This is just a contest for bragging rights and a few prizes, don't make it sound like people are murdering and stealing to win this contest. There are people that don't like deer contests just like there are people that don't like 3-D archery tournaments, there are prizes and/or money given away at both and there are people who cheat at both and get away with it. It's not the end of the world, Don't let the naysayers spoil it for everyone lighten up and try to have some fun.
Keep up the good work guys!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

IMO, the guys putting on this contest arent getting one red nickel for their efforts and if there's anyone who'd like to try putting on a better one then rifle season is right around the corner. Have at it. You too, will find out that you wont please EVERYBODY! Maybe I'd have done it differently, then again maybe not, but that's beside the fact. I didnt volunteer to go to all the trouble, same as alot of folks on this site that are having alot to say about it now. For the guys and gals donating prizes and putting on this contest, good for you. Just glad to see there's a few people out there trying to make this even a better site for all us hunter's to enjoy!
