I went to the Archery Shop and shot today. I have a Quinn Stallion Classic T/D recurve that will be the bow I'll be carrying into the woods with me when I go to IL Friday with my son, reylamb. I've been tinkering with the flipper rest/plunger and sight I have on it trying to get it sighted in so that I'm comfortable with the combination and shooting where I'm wanting to hit.

Unfortunately, the plunger hole is so high that with the flipper rest/plunger combination I had to raise the sight so high and lower the peep sight so much that I was shooting inconsistently and having to lean my head to the right and down in order to align the peep with the sight. Furthermore, the sight was so high I was losing sight of it behind the upper part of the riser.

Fortunately, even though the Archery Shop is primarily a compound bow shop, Budro does have some traditional bow shooters besides me that frequents the shop so he does stock some trad items. One item he had in stock today was a Weatherest. So, we installed it on my bow.

Using the Weatherest, we were able to get the rest about 1/4" closer to the shelf than the arm on the flipper rest. That enabled us to raise the peep to where it should be and bring the sight back down to where it should be.

By the end of the day I have the single pin sight hitting dead on and grouping tight at 20 yards and hitting about 2-3" high at 10 yards and 4-5" high at 15 yards. I will leave the sight as it is and adjust for distance when I get a shot in IL.

I'm excited and ready to go now that I have my bow tuned up, hitting where I want it and grouping tightly with the Beman ICS Hunter 500s with 125 gr up front. I'm shooting a 525 gr arrow with a length of 3/16" polypropylene rope stuffed inside the arrows. I don't expect to have any problems with penetration! :biggrin3: :fine:
