WMA Bird

Been chasing this bird for 2 yrs now. He's an old warrior.. 11"beard....spur 1 3/8" he weighed 24 lbs..When I breasted him out I found 30+ pellets BB'S in his breast..No telling how many hunters shot at called to or spooked this bird..A perfect example of why public land birds run the other way when u call to them. When God's will and a man's ambition meet great things happen

Nice one what was the trick to finally getting him?

Just sticking with him when he kept gobbling..I set up on him 1 time he was gobbling like crazy..I tried to crawl to him cause I just knew if I called he'd run the other way..I got to 30 yds and lifted my head up and he was gone..smh...so I tucked my tail and went to the other end of the bottom about a quarter mile away where we had heard and chased him last week..Sure enoughI sat down and he gobbled 75 yds to my left..He began gobbling at everything birds crows etc..he was getting closers and at this point didn't know what to do..So I took out my copper pot and real lightly on the edge purred and he gobbled..I shut it down and waited..he didn't gobble again..my thought was great he's gone again like he has been so many times before..Then all of a sudden I see his head behind a white oak..As soon as he saw the white ok he busted me and putted..all I could see was his head so I let it fly..He didn't flop so I thought I missed..Much to my surprise there he lay :shoot:
