View Full Version : Greene and D.J. Shockley to split time from now on!

Seems D.J Shockley is getting tired of sitting on the sidelines watching the games. He is complaining about not getting enough snaps. Golly, I wonder if it's because we have a quarterback(Greene) that may contend for the Heisman? I think Greene has earned his spot and doesn't deserve to be taken out to stroke Shockley's ego. Mark Richt has even gone as far as saying Shockley will be next year's starter. Too bad if someone's better than him next year. Richt apologized for not giving Shockley snaps in the South Carolina game. Why should he be apologizing? Like the Atlanta Journel said, "are they playing to win this season or next?" Shockley can get some snaps in practice next spring if he wants to play.

Dustin, I think Coach Richt is making a good decision. Give Shockley some playing time. Georgia's offence has struggled on more than one occasion in games that they should have won strongly. Granted it's never easy to play South Carolina in Carolina but they made mistakes they usually do not make. As far a Greene for the Heisman. Well he better show some more than he did against Lou or he won't be considered. He is a good qb and his greatest assest is that he is smart. I think Shockley needs to be commended for staying at Georgia for 3 years and playing second fiddle. He would be a starter for any other team. Anyway, Go Dawgs.

D. J. needs to take a snap every now and then in case Greene gets hurt.

Green should be the man. If he is hurt let DJ play.

I know you guys probably don't want a Tech fan giving an opinion, but you will get over it. ;) I really think having a 2 QB system isn't going to play out well with a schedule as tough as you guys have. Greene is a great QB, and I would think he is the guy that you would want to face LSU, Auburn, UF, UT, and Tech with. I know if I were a UGA fan that is who I would want to see on the field instead of splitting time with Shockley. Now, if you get out to a big lead in a game then by all means pull out Greene and put in Shockley.

You can't blame the guy for wanting to get in the game and try to help the team win. He's a very talented player and would probably be the starting QB on most SEC teams. His running ability is definitely a big plus in games in which the recievers have trouble catching the ball, which seems to happen frequently.
I agree with Braintree that David Greene can't afford many games like he had last week if he has heisman trophy hopes.Let's hope he's on fire from here on out!!:) GO DAWGS!!

I totally agree with GTBuzz. When the DAWGS get to the big games, I would want someone that has the experience like that of Greene. Shockley may be a good quarterback, but because of his lack of playing time(don't forget he was hurt part of last year) he just doesn't have the game smarts of Greene. What I am afraid of is that he is so eager to get in the game that he will try to force plays that could end up getting the team in a hole that they couldn't get out of.

There is a 2nd team quarterback on all football teams. Just because they are there doesn't grant them the right to play in every game. Look at the New York Giants. They have a great player in rookie Eli Manning, but Kurt Warner gets the nod for starting job because of experience.

The biggest thing the dawgs have been doing right the last couple years is playing big in big games. They seem to play better against the big teams with the exception of a few games.

Greene was named starter for a reason, he is the better QB. DJ does not make good decision in a lot of situations. He has great ability, but a lot of QB is brains. I wish Richt would stay with Greene and if and when the game is in hand let DJ play. If DJ has to play so badly, there are several other positions he can play at. And why Richt would have basically already named him starter for next year is beyond me. I sure hope that doesn't happen if he continues to play the way he has in the past.

My plan is to enjoy having a coach in control that has proven to be the best thing that has happened to the Dawgs since Herschel!

Relax & enjoy the show!!! GO DAWGS!!!

Greene is a very good QB.....

He's a "HEISMAN TROPHY CANDIDATE".......

Right????

You "DON'T" penalize Greene by not playin' him just to make "SHOCKLEY" happy.......

Come on!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a no-brainer...........Greene should play "EVERY DOWN" unless it's a blow-out or he gets hurt...... ::huh:

He does not have a chance!

He is a good college QB, thats it.

I agree greene is not a heisman candidate. If he gets rattled his performance goes south. Coach Richt makes 900K a year for a reason. He knows what he is doing. I personally think he should let Shockley play a lot of games. I would rather see greene myself but we have won a lot of games under Richt. It wasn't too long ago a good UGA season was eight wins with a guranteed loss to Florida and Tennesse. WE own Tennessee and Florida well that is still a sore spot. The last cople of years we have played them to the wire and probably should have won!

Man, I can't believe I'm sayin' this....... :o :o

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I believe that Greene has good enough numbers to put him into that catagory of being a Heisman Candidate.......Besides that, look at his record as a starter.......

You other "DAWG" fans chime in.......Maybe, I'm mistaken...... ::huh: ::huh:

Don't read something into my post that I did not say.

I believe Greene is the best QB in college football this year.

I just said that I believe Coach Richt probably knows more about football and his players than I do, so I'll let him make the decisions as see fit without me worrying about them (until he really screws up :bounce: )

However, I understand that some of you are better suited at making those decisions than CMR, so y'all have at it.

If I read wrong into that.....

Sorry dude..... :p

Yes, Richt is the coach, and of course he knows a whole lot more about the game of football than me.......I just think he may be messin' with somethin' that's workin' by doin' this that's all....

:D :D :D :D

Guys,This has been going on for three years now,so I dont know why it is a big deal all of a sudden.I agree with MR Young that Coach Richt knows what he,s doing,so far since he has been at georgia he has pushed all the right buttons,so why should we doubt him now.GO DAWGS.

Did any of you catch CMR's press conference yesterday?

It was great! Someone ask him why he went away from his game plan of rotating QB's? Coach Richt replied that he never said he was going to rotate QB's!

What he said he was going to do was put Shockley in the game at some predetermined point. That is exactly what he did.

The "Sports Journalists" are not very good listeners! :shoot:

GO DAWGS!!!

Greene better get his head in the game. He's not the David Greene of old. He needs to get it together and start leading this offense by example.
