choke for 20 ga.

Trying turkey hunting for the first time this year. Have a 870 20 guage with modified choke. I am getting mixed opions on chokes. I am leaning towards full choke others have said modified is their choice. Want to shoot #5 winchester 3 in. Double X. ????

You need to drop to around a 560 to 565 in it.

What maximum range do you have in mind? That's the biggest determining factor in what you need. Inside 20-25 yards, either of those might work-- anything outside of that, you'll want a good choke and some better shells. I've got one of WFL's (Sumtoy) chokes in my 870 and get great results with the Federal Heavyweight #7 shells to 40 yards.

what kind of numbers you getting at 40yds and how long is your barrel.

I've got the 21in youth model, and average 170-180 with 149 being the worst I've gotten out of it.

there is not a lot of pellets in a 20 gauge #5. I would look at 7's.
